How to Make Your Own Lavender Eye Pillow

A lavender eye pillow is a fun little prop that can make savasana (or the final resting pose) feel extra luxurious. When laid on the face, the gentle weight of the flax seeds inside helps relax the eyes, and the addition of dried lavender can help to soothe the mind.

You can buy eye pillows online at a reasonable price, or, if you’re feeling crafty, you can make your own!

Here’s what you’ll need to make your own:

  • 1 cup of flaxseed

  • ½ cup of dried lavender buds

  • 1 4 ½” x 20” strip of white fabric (for inner lining)

  • 1 5” x 20” strip of soft fabric of your choice

Fold the white strip of fabric in half, and sew the two long sides together. Then flip the little pouch inside-out so that the seam is now inside the pillowcase. Fill it with flaxseed and lavender buds, then sew shut. Now, fold your second strip of fabric in half, and sew the two longest sides together. Turn this second pillowcase inside out, slip the white pillow inside, and sew the outside case shut.

Your eye pillow is ready to use, or gift to a friend!
